New York-based Evolve Motorcycles is set to launch with an initial product lineup of three electric scooter models.

Founded by Benjamin Plum, Mazdack Rassi and Lex Kendall, Evolve will premiere its new Titanium, Neon and Helium electric scooters and preview two future design concepts at a launch event Oct. 6 in New York City.

All three models are backed with a one-year warranty, 24/7 roadside assistance and the Evolve social networking app to connect with other riders. Each model comes ready for Garmin GPS connectivity while the Neon and Helium are equipped with smartphone charge points. Evolve claims a charge time of 2.5 hours for each model.

Evolve’s biggest selling point may be its pricing plan with MSRPs ranging from $2900 to $5400 not including a 10% federal tax rebate for electric vehicles.

WNYC’s Jim Colgan produced this short documentary to show the trials and tribulations that scooter riders have to endure on the mean streets of New York city.  One of the big problems facing riders in NYC is the lack of dedicated motorcycle/scooter parking, the department of transport in the city installed its FIRST dedicated motorcycle/scooter parking area on July 30th of this year, about the size of one car… Continue Reading »

ayartA.D. Maddox was a good example of an artist actually using a motorcycle to create art, her “bug art” was interesting indeed, now an artist out of New York City, Aaron Young, has given his interpretation using motorcycles to make art.

What the hell is that? Come back tomorrow to find out!

The New York City stop of the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show starts this Friday and I think my ears have begun bleeding from all the chatter going on around the Motorcycle.com virtual office about the 2010 Honda Fury. Teaser images, patented drawings, leaky blog links and childhood-like excitement for something new from the Japanese mainstay has been filling both our homepages. But it’s an American motorcycle company that’s got my blood pumping. Known bad-ass designers and thrill seekers to boot, the folks at Victory Motorcycles also have an unveiling on Friday and I’m even more intrigued by the photograph shown on the IMS website then I am for that squiggly photoshopped image of the Fury.

I’ve looked at quite a few motorcycles in my years here at MO. And I’ve seen them in many unique ways and points of view, so I of course have been wracking my creative little peanut to figure out what this image might represent. A custom billet wheel? Not with that notch in there. A brake lever? A Fender? A finger-chap conch? It certainly seems like a cast piece by the textured shadow on the right, but the middle appears rather hot pressed. Damn you macro lenses and teaser media leaks! I’m gunna guess it’s a fender strut and come back on Friday when they let the whole wide world know what’s at the “CORE” of this concept motorcycle from Victory.

Here is a shot of the Fury from the official unveiling at Honda HQ last month, finally we can now show it to you! Click here to read the full article.

While the Honda Fury won’t be officially unveiled until this coming weekend at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in NYC, Honda has been doing some underground marketing to get the word out by releasing videos to the public.

Believe it or not, MO Editor-in-Chief Kevin Duke was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the Fury last month in American Honda’s high security R&D center in Torrance, CA. Unfortunately, due to a strict embargo, we are unable to publish the story until Friday out of respect for big red. Come check out Motorcycle.com Friday morning to get all the goods on the Fury, but until then you can whet your appetite with these videos. Enjoy!

Current New York state law and Federal law prohibit motorcycles from emitting exhaust noise in excess of 80 decibels. In a move to enhance the enforceability of laws governing exhaust noise specific to motorcycles, the New York City city council has drafted a proposed law, No. 416-A, to aid various law enforcement agencies in what would effectively be elimination of many motorcycles from the City of New York.
