Three-time World Enduro Champion David Knight has been named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth.

The 2005, 2006 and 2010 WEC Champion, Knight receives one of Great Britain’s most prestigious honors.

Knight joins TTXGP founder Azhar Hussain in receiving MBE honors by the Queen on June 11, a British holiday ceremonially marking her birthday.

TTXGP founder and Mavizen Chief Executive Officer Azhar Hussain has been named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth for his services to motorsport.

Hussain, the CEO of eGrandPrix which organizes the TTXGP, the world’s first sanctioned zero emission motorcycle race.

The TTXGP began as a single race on the Isle of Man in 2009 before growing into an international organization with three racing series.

The Order of the British Empire is a knightly order. As an MBE, Hussain joins the order’s lowest rank, though it is still one of Britain’s highest honors.

“It’s the first mainstream award for zero carbon motorsport, and given that we have only two seasons behind us, it symbolises the huge impact we have already made as well as the enormous potential of the industry,” Hussain wrote in an open letter on the TTXGP website. “TTXGP has made a significant contribution to motorsport, and this honour from the Queen acknowledges it.”

Hussain was one of several hundreds of people named by Queen Elizabeth to various classes of the Order on June 11, a British holiday marking the Queen’s ceremonial birthday.
