Promoter Feld Motorsports announced the originally-scheduled Jan. 19 AMA Supercross race in Los Angeles will now be held in Anaheim as Dodger Stadium undergoes renovations to prepare for the 2013 Major League Baseball season.
Dodger Stadium was included in the original 17-round 2013 AMA Supercross schedule but its spot will instead be occupied by Angel Stadium in Anaheim which will once again host three rounds in the series. Anaheim hosted three AMA Supercross rounds for years before 2011 when Los Angeles was added.
The L.A. Dodgers, who own the stadium, have a new ownership group (including NBA basketball great Earvin “Magic” Johnson) which made renovating the 50-year-old facility one of its priorities. This forced the movement of several events previously scheduled for Dodger Stadium including Supercross and the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam monster truck event in February. Continue Reading »
