Indian Motorcycles is continuing its rebirth under new owners Polaris Industries with a big showcase at the New York City stop of the International Motorcycle Shows, Jan. 18-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The storied American motorcycle company is trying to re-establish its brand this year ahead of full product revamp for 2014. To that end, Indian Motorcycles will have its entire 2013 lineup including the Indian Chief Vintage Final Edition (pictured above). Executives from both Indian and Polaris will also be on-hand to meet visitors and discuss the future of the brand.

Indian will also continue its partnership with Mike Wolfe of the History Channel’s “American Pickers“. Wolfe will join a panel of Indian executives for a press conference at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 to answer questions from the public as well as appearing at the Indian display for an autograph signing. Polaris Industries offered the first preview of the next generation of Indian Motorcycle, releasing an audio clip of the new engine that will power an all-new model.

Indian is offering a a line of 2013 Chief models but all of them are continuations of  models offered by Indian’s owners. The new Polaris-era Indians are still a year away, but Polaris decided to start promoting the brand and teasing the new models ahead of a 2014 re-launch.

Unsurprisingly, the engine has a throaty V-Twin rumble; V-Twins have been powering Indian motorcycles since 1905, and the brand’s new owners Polaris have extensive experience with V-Twins as well, with Victory Motorcycles. Continue Reading »

This eye-catching image is part of a new ad campaign promoting the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows which kicks off its 13-stop cross-country tour Nov. 2-4 in Atlanta, Ga.

Created by San Diego’s i.d.e.a. advertising agency, the “Human Motorcycles” ad campaign features a number of models contorting themselves into the shapes of different motorcycles.  The models, including motorsports TV personality Erin Bates are dressed in nothing but body paint designed by artist Trina Merry to create the illusion of a motorcycle. The 2011-2012 International Motorcycle Shows tour hits the Big Apple this weekend with a number of debuts, Jan. 20-22 at the Jakob K. Javits Convention Center.

Headlining the show is a new 2013 Victory model being introduced by R. Lee Ermey, a.k.a. The Gunny. According to Victory, the new model will be a cruiser that reflects “the American muscle car scene”. The brand new 2013 model will be joined by two custom Victory models, a Zach Ness customized version of the new model and a custom bike produced by Klocks Werks Kustom Motorcycles in memory of one of its fallen employees, Vic Briggs.

The Progressive International Motorcycle Shows has released its 12-stop 2011-2012 tour calender.

The country’s largest touring motorcycle show, the IMS usually features several new models making their debuts in the United States.

The 2011-2012 tour kicks off Nov. 18-20, 2011, in San Mateo, Calif., and ends March 14-17, 2012 in Daytona Beach, Fla., at Bike Week.
