Facebook has been getting a bad rap of late with its recent IPO but that didn’t stop Ducati from celebrating its millionth “Like” on the official Ducati Facebook page. The Italian manufacturer marked the occasion with a video thanking its fans.

The video is almost a real-life demonstration of how Facebook operates, following a first-person perspective of a fan visiting Ducati‘s headquarters in Bologna, Italy, and raising a thumb to “like” things he sees such the rows of L-Twin-powered motorcycles in the parking lot, Corse racebikes on display at the Ducati Museum, factory workers assembling a Ducati 1199 Panigale.

Along the way, Ducati displays the word “thanks” in 12 different languages along the fan’s tour of the factory and in footage from its MotoGP team’s recent test at Italy’s Mugello circuit. Continue Reading »

Motorcycle.com‘s MotoGP contest is coming to a close but there’s still time to enter for your chance to win tickets to the 2012 U.S. Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

On its Facebook page today, Victory motorcycles released a teaser video for an upcoming model to be unveiled December 9 at 7pm CST. The video is a brief 43 seconds that begins with the sound of spray paint being shaken and black paint being “sprayed” onto the camera.

Harley-Davidson has advanced its “crowdsourcing” marketing strategy to the next phase.  The Motor Company announced today Fan Machine, a new app for its Facebook presence. The app is a conduit for fan-submitted marketing ideas.

Harley’s first attempt at culling ideas from its throngs of devoted followers resulted in the recently implemented “No Cages” campaign. Fan Machine will allow Harley to tap into its nearly 2.9 million Facebook fans for new marketing ideas. Through the new app fans can review an advertising brief, submit ideas and vote on ideas from other community members. After selecting and rewarding the winners, Harley-Davidson will work with existing marketing partners to bring the best creative ideas to life. Continue Reading »
