Our Euro correspondent got an early ride on MV’s latest creation, the 800cc Brutale powered by a larger version of the Triple from the F3 675 and Brutale 675. We’ll have his full review published soon, but below you’ll find his brief impressions of this sexy and thrilling new Italian roadster.

The new MV Agusta Brutale 800 differs from its 675 little brother in one obvious way: ferocity! It’s simply a more brutal motorcycle living up to its name. Boosted by 125cc, the Brutale 800 pulls a lot stronger and is more exciting.

The new Triple explodes into its power band around 5000 rpm and the rush is very addictive. Its 125 horsepower (rated at the crankshaft) is more than a match for the lightweight machine that’s purported to weight just 417 pounds with its fuel tank full. Continue Reading »

MV Agusta has a new entry in the motard segment, unveiling the new Rivale 800 at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy.

The 2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 is powered by a 798cc engine based on the three-cylinder 675cc engine with a counter-rotating crankshaft used in the F3 and Brutale 675. The same 798cc version of the engine is mounted on the new Brutale 800 and both models claim a peak output of 123.3 hp. The Rivale is a bit heavier however, with MV Agusta claiming a dry weight of 375 pounds, compared to the Brutale 800′s claimed weight of 368 pounds.

Like the Brutale 800, the Rivale is loaded with MV Agusta’s Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System electronics package which includes ride-by-wire throttle and selectable engine maps, though MV Agusta does not mention whether the Rivale will also have traction control. Continue Reading »

MV Agusta has made it no secret it is producing an 800cc motard-styled model using a larger version of 675cc three-cylinder engine from the F3 and the Brutale 675. MV Agusta had been openly talking about the new model, expected to be called the Rivale, releasing a sketch of it earlier this week. Less discussed, but probably expected, was the same larger Triple engine would appear in another version of the Brutale.

The 2013 MV Agusta Brutale 800 slots into the manufacturer’s lineup between the Brutale 675 and the newly announced four-cylinder Brutale 1090 models and stepping into the gap left by the discontinued 921. The new Brutale, and the upcoming Rivale as well, is powered by a 798cc three-cylinder engine with a counter-rotating crankshaft.

The extra capacity comes from increasing the Triple engine’s stroke to 54.3 mm from the 675cc engine’s 45.9mm throw.  MV Agusta claims an output of 123.3 hp at 11,600 rpm and 59.7 ft-lb. at 8600 rpm from the Brutale 800′s powerplant, though the Rivale will likely be tuned a little differently. MV Agusta claims a top speed of 153.1 mph for the Brutale 800 compared to the Brutale 675′s claimed 139.8 mph top speed. Continue Reading »

MV Agusta released a video teasing its three-bike four-cylinder 2013 Brutale lineup. Joining the Brutale 675 in MV Agusta‘s naked streetbike offerings will be the Brutale 1090cc, the Brutale 1090R and the Brutale 1090RR (pictured above).

The base model MV Agusta Brutale 1090cc will replace the 920 version that was offered in 2012, which shouldn’t be a surprise with the launch of the 675 version this year. With the new F3-based 675cc three-cylinder model in the lineup, it made little sense for MV Agusta to continue offering a 920 as well as a 1090. By dropping the 921cc version, MV Agusta can better streamline its operations by offering two Brutale engines.

In previous years, the Brutale 1090 models used 1078cc four-cylinder engines. For 2013 however, it looks like the 1090 models will actually use 1090cc engines, if the Brutale 1090cc name offers an accurate indication. Continue Reading »

MV Agusta announced both the 2012 F3 675 and the naked Brutale 675 will be available with its Electronically Assisted Shift (EAS) system.

The EAS allows for quick shifting without needing to close the throttle or apply the clutch. The EAS quick shifter was previously available for just the F3 as an optional accessory, but MV Agusta says it will offer EAS-installed and non-EAS versions of the F3 and the Brutale. Continue Reading »

MV Agusta announced it is doubling production capacity at its factory in Varese, Italy, thanks mostly to popular demand of its new F3 675 three-cylinder supersport.

Thanks to the hype over new products such as the F3, its naked sibling the Brutale 675, as well as the RR1090 and R1090 Brutales, MV Agusta has already received more orders for 2012 than it had for all of 2011, which saw a 12% increase in sales over 2010.

To mark the doubling of production capacity as well as the start of production for the special edition F3 Serie Oro, MV Agusta released a video of the bike being constructed on its assembly line.

MV Agusta has released U.S. pricing information for its new F3 675 supersport and limited edition Serie Oro variant, but those looking for the Brutale 675 naked version may be disappointed.

The 2012 MV Agusta F3 675 will be available at American dealerships for $13,498 while the Serie Oro version will be more than twice the price at $27,900. The extra$14,402 gets you golden frame plates, swingarm, air intakes, wheels  and chain, minimalist graphics, as well as radially-mounted Brembo monobloc calipers, fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension and steering damper and lighter carbon fiber components. MV Agusta will only produce 200 units of the F3 Serie Oro.

Hot on the heels of the release of full specs for the F3 675 supersport, MV Agusta has unveiled the naked version featuring the same engine and MVICS electronics package and a claimed weight of 163 kg (359 pounds).

The 2012 MV Agusta Brutale 675 is the smallest member of the Brutale line, but it’s also the most high-tech. The Brutale 675 gets the same ride-by-wire throttle control and traction control system as the new F3. The MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) gives riders a choice of  eight levels of traction control and four selectable engine maps (plus a fifth customizable map).

Powering the new Brutale is the high-revving 675cc three-cylinder engine used on the F3, but toned down a bit. Instead of the F3′s claimed 126hp, the Brutale 675 peaks at 113 hp at 12,500 rpm. Torque is said to be the same 52 ft-lbs at 10,600 rpm as the F3. According to MV Agusta, the engine offers linear power delivery while the torque curve is more like that of a literbike than a supersport.

MV Agusta has released a video teasing a new Brutale 675 which is expected to be unveiled at next week’s EICMA 2011 show in Milan.

The MV Agusta Brutale 675 will be the naked version of the F3, having a similar exhaust as the supersport’s distinctive side-mounted triple pipes. The tail also bears the word “Trepistoni”, Italian for “three pistons”.
