“It’s been a very long winter for the most part of the country, not surprisingly 75% of our sales during these months were models with on-demand 2WD, which is known for all-weather and snow capability,” says Madina Merzhoeva, Ural’s Vice President. “Sales were up every month of Q1, but March turned out to be a bit more challenging. We’ve set ourselves an aggressive 30% growth goal for 2013. It has been a slower start than expected, so we are turning up our marketing and sales efforts. We still intend to meet the goal.”

SMMHFWhile on location in the Black Hills of South Dakota, PBS’s Antiques Roadshow stopped by the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum to film a segment on motorcycle toys. In the segment host Mark L. Walberg talks with vintage toy expert Noel Barrett about various American-made, antique, cast iron motorcycle toys. Barrett shares the history of these early toys, some tips about how one might tell a reproduction from the real thing, and offers his valuation on several highlighted examples. Walberg also takes a ride on a vintage Harley-Davidson Servi-Car. Additional footage not seen in the show will be posted on the Antiques Roadshow website once the episode has aired.

The segment is to premiere on PBS stations nationwide Monday, April 29th at 8pm/7pm Central. Check your local listings to confirm the air date and time.

Rob Zombie’s live show is known to include elaborate multi-media productions with animatronic robots, oversized LED screens, a non-stop collage of psychotronic monster film clips, a spectacular light show, a gigantic robot with flames shooting out of its body, pyrotechnics, insane guitar riffs and vicious beats.

Party goers at the 2013 Sturgis bike fest can expect to hear singles such as “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,” “Lucifer Rising,” “Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures,” and a long list of fan favorites such as “Dragula” and “Thunder Kiss ‘65’,” from his previous albums as well.

Zombie will be in South Dakota on August 7 to headline the Buffalo Chip’s 2013 Sturgis Bike Festival. Zombie will be joining Machine Head, Mastodon, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, ZZ Top, Halestorm and more as fans get to mix hard rock and plenty of hot two wheeled machines! The festival is labelled as “the best party anywhere” and “the largest music festival in motorcycling!”

Three-time and defending AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Champion, Josh Hayes (above right), and 2012 AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Rookie of the Year, Josh Herrin, are ready to debut new livery on their Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1 next week in Daytona. Joining them are 2012 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike race winner, Cameron Beaubier, and 2012 AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport race winner, Garrett Gerloff, on their Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Daytona SportBike YZF-R6s.

The four riders and their machines recently completed a photo session at Yamaha’s U.S. headquarters in Cypress, California, where they were joined by a quartet of Monster Energy and Yamaha Extended Service Umbrella Girls. Now taking reservations! The Palm Springs Escape, scheduled for May 2–6, 2013, is the first of three all-female tours. The five-day event, a.k.a., the All-Women Ride, Relax and Rejuvenate Tour, includes three day-rides through Southern California’s mountains and deserts surrounding Palm Springs.

“This all-women motorcycle tour is based out of a spa hotel in downtown Palm Springs, so guests are within walking distance of world-class boutiques and spa treatments, something they can indulge in after each day’s ride,” says Genevieve Schmitt, founder and editor of Women Riders Now. Daily rides include the Palms to Pines Scenic Byway, along with visits to Joshua Tree National Park, Anza-Borrego State Park, and the mountain towns of Julian and Idyllwild.

Inside the Defiant the exposed areas of the cheekpads and neckroll feature Arai’s water-repellent Dry-Max material that prevents water absorption in wet conditions. The new IR Neckroll pad has been reshaped to flow more air to the bottom of the helmet at lower speeds. Founded in 1963, Alpinestars marks a half-century of high performance apparel this year. Named after the Stella Alpina mountain flower, Alpinestars got its start manufacturing ski and hiking boots. The company’s first motorcycle footwear, introduced in 1965, were MX boots bedecked with innovations. With 5-time World Motocross champion Roger Decoster’s stamp of approval Alpinestars earned global recognition. From there Alpinestars diversified in to road racing and is now a recognized leader in a variety of sporting disciplines.

Although Alpinestars has not yet introduced any special 50th anniversary gear or apparel the company did give Motorcycle.com a preview of its 2013 spring collection. The collection includes new as well as updated products from casual riding sneakers to one-piece leather suits and everything in between.
