Equipped with a cell phone and about $1,600 invested in a motorcycle engine and some other spare parts, Wu Zhongyuan, a 20 year old in China has built a helicopter that can climb 2,600 feet in the air.  Zhongyuan, claims he learned everything he needed to know via the Internet (though his cell) and by recalling his physics lessons in middle school but the Chinese government has grounded him for safety issues, you have to love this guy’s ingenuity!

E3 or The Electronic Entertainment Expo, is a giant industry event for the video gaming world and it is finishing off today.  Big companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo showed off some new stuff they are working on and software companies were giving sneak peaks at games in development that are to be released over the next year.

So were there any motorcycle themed video games?

Sort of… There were no serious motorcycle racing sims on display (not even MotoGP 09 as far as I can tell). I did find 2 motorcycle’ish games for you though.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Owners – Trials HD

Xbox Live Arcade is getting an arcade dirt bike stunt game.  A 2D game with 3D graphics and a physics engine that challenges you to overcome different obstacles.  It seems pretty much like the 2D dirt bike games we feature in Motorcycle.com’s free game section.  Trails HD could be played on your big screen though and will probably have a little more depth…maybe.  I didn’t see a release date or pricing for this, but XBLA games are usually around the $15-$30 mark.

Nintendo DS Owners – MX vs ATV Reflex

Sorry but there are no screen shots yet, just announcement that it’s coming out for the #1 hand held system in the world.  Check out our review of MX vs ATV on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

And that’s it!  How disappointing.

Not all games for the next year are announced at E3 so maybe we’ll be surprised over the next few months and see something turn up.

IGN.com just received a bunch of SBK: Superbike World Championship 09 screenshots from Milestone, the developer.

Milestone has developed many SBK games in the past for PC and game consoles.  Let’s hope they can bring the excitement of moto racing in 2009.

The biker theme works and Rockstar has added the right amount of content to keep GTA fans happy for a long time. How much content is the right amount? New character progressions, new bikes, new cars, new mini games, new hidden packages, 12 bike races, 25 gang war missions, 6 new multiplayer modes, and over 50 new songs to the already massive soundtrack. Add the meaty ten hour single player story and you’ve got yourself a recipe for disaster if you intend on playing this while maintaining any sort of healthy relationship with your significant other.

Meh, she’ll get over it.

Yes, in GTA4 you can steal cars, kill innocent civilians (and not-so innocent civilians), hire prostitutes, and go to a strip club to get a lap dance.

You’ve heard about Grand Theft Auto’s reputation before, I’m not going to repeat it again.

What hardly gets out into the mass media is the quality of the game, from visuals to story telling. GTA4 was categorized by many as Game of the Year, but not for the violence. It was the story that made Grand Theft Auto 4 a shining gem amongst all the video games released in 2008.

Think of the movie Pulp Fiction. A violent movie but a very good movie (if you give it a chance).

Rockstar, the developers behind GTA4 are back with new content for you in less then a year of Grand Theft Auto 4’s original release.

The new content is exclusive to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and will be available February 19th, 2009 for download.

Yes, unfortunately you have to be online with your Xbox 360 to download this new content but it looks to be worth the effort!

Yes, a biker gang. Is anyone else really excited to see what Rockstar has for this biker gang story-line?

Rockstar claims that you are getting at least 10 hours of gameplay out of this new add-on.  Some regular games aren’t even that long and cost 3 times as much.

The add-on will set you back 1600 Microsoft Points, which equals $19.99 real dollars which is pretty damn good for what you are getting.  You also must own GTA4 already so the game can actually work.

Get your xbox 360 ready for February 17, 2009.
