Television personality and motor vehicle enthusiast Jay Leno is reprising his role as grand marshal for Love Ride.

Love Ride 29 (though this is actually the 28th time the event has been held after the 2009 event was canceled due to the economic downturn) takes place Oct. 21 at Castaic Lake, Calif. Since 1984, the fundraiser has raised over $24 million for charity.

In the past, the fundraiser has raised money for causes such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Special Olympics of Southern California. Love Ride 29 will benefit the USO and its veteran programs located in 27 states. Continue Reading »

Yamaha is giving away a 50th Anniversary Edition YZR-R1 autographed by current and former Grand Prix racers to benefit Bubba Shobert‘s Race 2 Embrace Crusade. The one-0f-a-kind R1 will be on display at the July 27-29 U.S. Grand Prix at Laguna Seca

The unique R1 is painted in Yamaha‘s 50th Anniversary colors and features autographs from legends such as Kenny Roberts, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey, as well as current MotoGP racers Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies from the factory Yamaha team and Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso from the Tech 3 Yamaha team.

AMA racing legend Shobert is the official ambassador for the Race 2 Embrace Crusade, a non-profit organization that assists children living in areas devastated by natural disasters. Star Motorcycles will be auctioning this Stratoliner Deluxe at the annual STAR Days rally in Reno, Nevada this July. Proceeds from the auction go to Feed the Children charity. The custom 2010 Stratoliner Deluxe wears a Benny Flores paint job, PM wheels, fairing lowers, a Garmin Zumo 665 GPS unit as well as a variety of Star accessories.

“The annual Feed the Children auction at STAR Days each year generates thousands of dollars to help feed and clothe children who so desperately need it,” said Alan Cease, President of Star Touring and Riding. “And this beautiful Stratoliner Deluxe is sure to the key attraction at this year’s annual auction.”

Motorcycle aficionado and owner of GP Motorcycles, a San Diego dealership specializing in European manufacturers, Paul Lima, suffered a paralyzing crash while riding an MX bike on April 4th. Following a 9-hour surgery to realign and stabilize his back, Paul is recovering well and undergoing rehabilitation. Paul has health coverage, but the costs not covered by insurance are mounting and the Lima family can use any help benevolent motorcyclists can afford.

Kenny Roberts is hosting a fundraising dinner at his ranch to benefit the Welcome Home Heroes Foundation.

The May 11 American Hero Dinner is being held on behalf of the Cpl. Michael D. Anderson Jr. Memorial Foundation to raise money for Welcome Home Heroes which assists veterans in their transition back to civilian life.

Yamaha is sponsoring the dinner which will feature guests including Roberts, Mert Lawwill, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kenny Roberts Jr., as well as Bruce Brown, the producer and director of the Oscar-nominated film “On Any Sunday”. Lorenzo Lamas, the heartthrob who played ex-cop Reno Raines, a chopper/cruiser-riding beefcake sporting a flowing mane (that most women wished they had), out for justice in the ’90s TV drama, Renegade, is a real life motorcyclist, and will lead a charity ride on June 3 as the grand marshal for Child Abuse Awareness.

Slated to join Lamas are actors/riders from Sons of Anarchy, Southland and American Ninja, as well as law enforcement and the general public, on the ride that will depart from Bartels’ Harley-Davidson in Marina del Rey, Calif., and end at the Newport Dunes Resort in Newport Beach, Calif.

Designed by Parker Brothers Custom Choppers, the Evolve Xenon is powered by a 60ah custom li-ion battery providing a claimed range of 30 miles, with a 3-hour charge time. A Xenon XR is available with a 120ah battery providing a claimed range of 100 miles and a 4-hour charge time. The Xenon’s bodywork/frame is crafted from fiberglass, with functioning LED tape light trim on the body as well as on the perimeter of the bike’s 32-inch hub-less wheels.

“American Choppers” star Paul Teutul Sr. will be appearing on another television reality show, joining the cast of the upcoming season of “Celebrity Apprentice“.

Orange County Chopper‘s Teutul will be competing in the 12th season of Donald Trump‘s show, and the fifth to feature a cast of celebrities (or pseudo-celebrities, depending on how you look at it) each competing on behalf of a chosen charity. Contestants will work in teams on a different business-related challenge each episode, with Trump “firing” a member of the team that does worst at that episode’s challenge.
