Motorcycle Awareness: Obstacles [video]

AD from the land down-under

Picture 1Another motorcycle safety commercial…  This one is original at least.  It was created by The Motor Accident Commission of South Australia, the TV AD utilizes real MotoGP footage and has an appearance by Mick Doohan.

Hit the jump and check it out for yourself.

You’ll realize how cheesy that headline is after watching the pretty rad video that Yamaha has released.

Yamaha’s new motocross bike has taken a radical new approach.  The engine is backwards.

Yamaha’s reason for doing this is to shift the heavy end of the motor more to the center of the motorcycle to make it more agile and responsive.  Slanting the cylinder also made for a straighter pathway for the air intake at the front of the bike.

Of course you can read about many more details and features of Yamaha’s YZ on Motorcycle.com where they just wrote a preview for it this week!  There’s also a bunch of photos to go through if you just don’t feel like doing any reading.

Check out the rest of the post for Yamaha’s official video on the 2010 YZ450F and also why I mention sketching (also, see if you can understand any of the equations that are scribbled down throughout the video)

Attracting attention while riding is not always an easy thing to do, but imagine if you could ride naked!  That’s the concept behind the AD that was created to promote motorcycle awareness in New Zealand, unfortunately its not an option (or fortunately depending on who it is) unless your looking to attract some negative attention from the police…

Based on the concept model unveiled last October at Intermot 2008, the new motorcycle is expected to be a sport-tourer powered by a 1200cc V-4 engine with variable cylinder technology which can allow it to run on only two cylinders to conserve fuel.  There are also rumors that the motorcycle will have a semi-auto gear box which will give the rider the option of going manual or automatic.

Honda has a dedicated website for the V4 where you can enter for a chance to win a spot to be one of the first to test drive the new bike, unfortunately, the contest is only open to Europeans.

Hit the jump to see the new promo video (you can hear what the motorcycle sounds like!) and an interview with design project leader, Teofilo Plaza.

The story behind the 2010 Buell Blast Motorcycle [video]

Hint: Erik Buell likes to crush things

If you haven’t heard, or have seen the new 2010 Buell Blast, you should check it out before viewing the video below.

Buell has re-branded itself over the last month or so and have been taking a very close look at themselves.  Not only did they change their logo, but they decided to put to rest a motorcycle that just didn’t fit what they really wanted to be making.  Sport bikes.

So the 2010 Buell Blast is a crushed hunk of metal signifying the end of that model.  There will be no Blast in the future so don’t hold your breath!

From comments on our own blog and across the Internet, it seems that not everyone agrees with Erik Buell’s decision to kill this beginner motorcycle.

So to help everyone understand this decision, Buell has thrown together a video explaining why they killed the Buell Blast.  See the rest of the post for the 3 minute video.

For more Buell video, check out the Motorcycle.com Buell Video Channel.

Craziest Motorcycle Oil Commercial Ever [video]

You have to see it to believe it

I thought at first this was a fake or mock Castrol Oil commercial but I think its real, sounds and looks like its from Asia or the Middle East somewhere, does anyone know what language this is?  Would there be any chance of this TV Ad showing up on U.S. airwaves?  I think not!

You just have to watch this after the jump.

As you may or may not know, Aprilia is the official motorcycle brand that movie starlet Megan Fox rides in the upcoming Transformers sequel, “Revenge of the Fallen”.

Aprilia must be loving the coverage as they are churning out media on the internet to make everyone salivate over Megan Fox sitting on their bike.

They’ve gone a step sideways and thrown up this video of a Transformers themed Aprilia RSV 1000R. The big problem with it is there’s no Megan Fox riding on it, just some dude.

Oh well, it’s still a sweet looking ride.

The new Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen movie opens June 24, 2009 (and I don’t plan on seeing it)

Yamaha Motor Europe have just posted a new video up on Youtube about their Yamalube motor oil and why you should use it on your Yamaha products.  They are pretty damn convincing or very good at brainwashing!

The video is pretty educational, explaining how motorcycle engines and car engines are very different, what a motorcycle engine really needs, and why Yamalube is very well suited for the job.

Various graphs, charts, shots of scientists making oil, and the accented British narrator have further convinced me that I need to get Yamalube and perhaps even be adding it into my morning bowl of cereal.

So who is using Yamalube and how much more is it then regular motor oil for your motorcycle?  The Yamaha website only teases me with a “TBA” next to how much this stuff costs.

See the rest of the article for their 5 minute and change video on why Yamalube is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

New Aprilia Scarabeo Scooter Videos are Kinda Lame

Who picks the music for these things?

Aprilia just posted some new videos on YouTube for their 2009 Scarabeo scooters and damn, they are cheesy.  The most cheesy thing about them is the music.  The 80’s called…

The 3 minute video features several different kinds of Aprilia Scarabeo scooter and each one has its own “music” to accompany it.  Awesome!

Check the full article for the post.  Make sure you have your speakers cranked so people around you can enjoy.
