Get ‘em while they’re hot and available. For a limited time Alpinestars is offering a hand-numbered, high-quality 11X17 art print with the purchase of a slim fit, 100% cotton T-shirt from Astars Heritage Series. The Heritage Series celebrates Astars’ 50 years of existence.

“All of the graphics are inspired by or sourced from our archive of material. We have an extensive archive of photos, posters, flyers, catalogs and other promotional materials spanning our 50 year history,” says Alpinestars’ Nic Sims. “For the Heritage Series, we referenced some of that material and either updated it or reformatted it. Some of the graphics, such as the One Day graphic are more contemporary. One Day features Alpinestars’ Surfer, Nathaniel Curran, on a bike with his surfboard. Again, pulled from our archive, just a more recent image. We thought that many of the graphics would translate well as art prints and thus produced the prints which accompany each.”

2011-ural-gear-up-sidecar-review-mcycle_com_camping-34Ural is reporting today an 11% sales growth for Q1 over the same period from the record year of 2012.

“It’s been a very long winter for the most part of the country, not surprisingly 75% of our sales during these months were models with on-demand 2WD, which is known for all-weather and snow capability,” says Madina Merzhoeva, Ural’s Vice President. “Sales were up every month of Q1, but March turned out to be a bit more challenging. We’ve set ourselves an aggressive 30% growth goal for 2013. It has been a slower start than expected, so we are turning up our marketing and sales efforts. We still intend to meet the goal.”

Freedom Friday is a call-to-action on the AMA’s Facebook page each Friday to alert motorcyclists about issues posing threats to motorcycling freedoms. Riders can partake in a weekly contest related to these issues and win prizes. Each week’s Freedom Friday photo contest asks AMA members to send a photo of themselves, preferably with their bike, near a symbol of the current topic.

The issue that kicks off today is access discrimination, which can be illustrated with a photo of a “No Motorcycles Allowed” sign, “Wilderness” sign or anything related to freedom to illustrate their concern as a motorcyclist. Even a photo of a “Welcome Bikers” banner or a trailhead sign indicating motorcycles are allowed would work, showing that proper efforts can gain motorcyclists access to streets and areas. Photo(s) and the AMA member number should be sent to the AMA at grassroots@ama-cycle.org to be entered in the contest.

schwantzCotA management obviously doesn’t fathom the depth of respect MotoGP fans have for Kevin Schwantz. It may be the newest and best racing venue in the U.S., but it seems as though CotA management is going out of its way to make motorcyclists dislike the place.

Statement by Kevin Schwantz:

“I have read several reports regarding my attendance at the MotoGP test last week in Austin. I would like to make this statement:

“I had been in Switzerland over the weekend where I was the guest speaker at the St. Gallen University. I returned to Texas on Tuesday evening and on Thursday I was at CotA for the MotoGP test, with a proper credential supplied by the Attack team, to coach Blake Young. Additionally I was an invited guest of the LCR Honda team.

“While there, CotA security informed me that CotA management requested I leave the track immediately and was not welcomed at the circuit. CotA’s security force also accused me of criminal trespass and warned I would be arrested the next time I entered the track.

“This comes as a tremendous disappointment to Honda, Blake Young, and myself. Especially because I am single-handedly responsible for bringing MotoGP to Texas and for the initial design of the facility to accommodate MotoGP racing.”

Last year Kevin Schwantz filed a suit against CotA owners saying he got squeezed out as promoter for the MotoGP round.
