Slalom races, slow races, keg pushes and other casual motorcycle games are part of the AMA Classic Field Meet Challenge scheduled daily during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days July 8-10 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

ABATE of Ohio will oversee registration and officiating for the field meet, which is provided free to all those attending AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.

“A field meet is all about having fun and creating some good memories with friends and family,” said Jim Elgin, ABATE of Ohio’s chairman of the board. “Open to any type of motorcycle or motorized bicycle, we will have a game you will want to compete in. We’ll put a smile on your face. And no one goes away empty handed. This is one more exciting thing to do during a great weekend of vintage racing.”

The AMA Classic Field Meet Challenge will take place on the infield of the road race course from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 10.

Registration is available on-site each morning. Registration is free, and riders on all types of bikes are invited to participate. Awards for first, second and third places will be presented for each session. The number of sessions will depend on participation.

Individual events will vary based on conditions, participation and scheduling. Activities planned include a keg push, a slow race, a plank race, a slalom race, a balloon toss and more.

Riders must provide their own motorcycle, scooter or motorized bicycle and wear appropriate gear. Helmet, long pants and eye protection are mandatory. Motorcycles or scooters can be from any era and do not need to be vintage to participate.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is a family-friendly event. Children 12 and younger get in free with paying, supervising adults.

Activities include the AMA Vintage Grand Championship, which features road racing, motocross, hare scrambles, trials and dirt-track racing. The event also includes North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet with parts, bikes and memorabilia from all eras. A premier bike show will feature examples of some of history’s most beloved motorcycles. Stunt shows and demo rides of current production bikes keep attendees entertained, while seminars on numerous topics by noted motorcycling experts keep them informed.

AMA members who buy tickets directly from the AMA before June 6 receive an exclusive price discount. AMA members can call (800) 262-5646 to purchase a weekend pass for $45, or a one-day pass for $25 for Friday or Saturday or $20 for Sunday, a $5 savings off the regular advance rate. There is no service charge for AMA members when purchasing through the AMA.

Schedules and entry information are available at www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com.

For 2016, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will celebrate the championship-winning career of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Wes Cooley and the 40-year anniversary of AMA Superbike racing. Cooley will be on hand throughout the weekend to sign autographs, participate in Q&A sessions and perform demonstration laps on his championship-winning GS1000 each day.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is a fundraiser for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The mission of the Hall of Fame, located on the AMA campus in Pickerington, Ohio, is to tell the stories and preserve the history of motorcycling’s legends and heroes.
