From an AMA press release:

David Hurley, of Millstone Township, N.J., is the winner of a Beta dual sport motorcycle, awarded to one lucky winner in the 2015 Beta AMA National Dual Sport Series, the American Motorcyclist Association announced today.

“I about fell on the floor when I learned I had won,” said Hurley, 58, an AMA Charter Life Member who joined in 1987. “This kind of thing just doesn’t happen to me.”

Hurley said the Hammer Run, organized by the Tri County Sportsmen Motorcycle Club, was the only event he rode in during 2015. In addition to his current dual sport bike, Hurley also has a cruiser-style street bike and several vintage bikes.

Hurley said he joined the AMA because he and his friends were “running out of places to ride.”

“I decided to try a motocross track, and that’s when I originally signed up,” he said. “I keep my membership going because I enjoy vintage motocross and because I know the AMA is fighting for our access as much as it can.”

In the sweepstakes, individuals received one automatic entry for each 2015 AMA Beta National Dual Sport Series event for which they registered and attended. Independent auditing and accounting firm Plante & Moran of Columbus, Ohio, validated the results.

“It has been fantastic to be partnered with the AMA and the Dual Sport Series,” said Tim Pilg of Beta USA. “We have seen a large increase in our RS sales for 2016, and some of that growth is attributed to the AMA’s dedication to the dual sport series. All of the promoters are great to work with, and we look forward to another great season of events for 2016. Congratulations to David Hurley for holding the winning ticket!”

Hurley will have his choice of a 2016 Beta 430 or 500 RS.

Bikes in the Beta RS line feature a single-cylinder, fuel-injected, four-valve, four-stroke, liquid cooled engine, with an electric start, back-up kick starter and cooling fan kit. The frame derives from the 2015 Beta racing model, a direct result of comprehensive analysis and research that has allowed for its rigidity to be optimized for greater stability and riding precision.
