Yamaha brought legends Rick “The Lumberjack” Burgett, Bob “Hurricane” Hannah and the “Golden Boy”, Broc Glover back together to re-create one of the most iconic motocross ads ever produced.

Yamaha Motor USA Turns 60!

The original ad, created in 1979, featuring Yamaha’s became one of the most popular ads of its era, with Burgett, Hannah and Glover astride their bikes. The three stars were part of Yamaha’s 60th anniversary celebrations where they were inducted to Yamaha’s Wall of Champions, where they struck the same poses on 2016 YZs.

“It was great to be able to get those three Yamaha motocross legends back together,” says Bob Starr, general manager of communications for Yamaha’s U.S. Motorsports Group. “And, while we had all three of them at our U.S. headquarters celebrating Yamaha’s 60th Anniversary with our employees, we decided it would be fun to re-create one of Yamaha’s most popular ads from the era when Rick, Bob, and Broc were teammates. It really came out great, and it’s another example of just how our strong our Yamaha family is!”

Burgett won the 1978 AMA 500cc National Motocross Championship. Hannah has a total of seven AMA National Championships while Glover won six AMA National Motocross titles.
