2015 Isle of Man TT: Sure Sidecar TT 2 Results
Ben and Tom Birchall won their second Sidecar TT race of the week, beating TT legend Dave Molyneux and his passenger Benjamin Binns by nearly eight seconds. With an average speed of 116.250 mph Birchall brothers broke their own course record set in the first Sidecar TT race earlier in the week.
The Birchalls led from the start, holding an early lead over John Holden and Dan Sayle with Molyneux and Binns just a few more seconds behind. After the full lap of the 37.73-mile course, Team Birchall was in front, averaging a speed of 115.549 mph. Molyneux, a 17-time TT winner, and his partner Binns were just a bit slower in second while Holden/Sayle sat third.
The three leading teams gained speed on the second lap, all posting average speeds faster than 116 mph with the Birchall brothers 7.6 seconds ahead of Moleyneux/Binns with Holden/Sayle another 3.8 seconds further back.
Molyneux and Binns put in a record third and final lap averaging 116.785 mph but it was enough, as the Birchalls were just a hair slower at 116.783 mph, good enough to take the victory. Holden and Sayle finished behind them for third.
