Dainese has recently released its fourth episode in its web series documenting the company’s past, present and future. Entitled, “Archived,” this episode provides a sneak peak into Dainese’s enormous archive of used race suits, including suits worn by legends like Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Kevin Schwantz, Carl Fogarty, Nicky Hayden, Max Biaggi, and Valentino Rossi.

Apart from providing a historical timeline of racing’s past, the archive charts four decades of technical innovations. With over 1,000 suits, gloves, boots, and more, the archive is used as a tool for Dainese to analyze past crashes in order to improve safety for both both professional and amateur riders worldwide. For example, Agostini worked with Dainese to increase the comfort of leather suits, Roberts helped the company to invent the knee slider, and more recently, riders like Rossi helped develop the D-Air system.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
