Yesterday we brought you official images of the new 2015 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR that were leaked online. The Italian manufacturer has now provided official information about the new model including an additional 14.8 hp and 3.7 ft-lb. over the original Dragster 800.

Other noticeable upgrades over the base model include an adjustable CRC steering damper, wire-spoke 17-inch rims and two new paint schemes with red fork tubes.

The Dragster RR uses a similar 798cc three-cylinder engine as the non-RR model but maxes out at 138 hp at 13,100 rpm while offering 63.4 ft-lb. at 10,100 rpm. By comparison, the Dragster 800 tops out at 123.4 hp at 11,600 rpm while a peak torque of 59.7 ft-lb. comes at a relatively sedate 8600 rpm. The performance upgrade comes courtesy of a redesigned airbox and an optimized exhaust system. MV Agusta also equipped the Dragster RR with a second fuel injector per cylinder while adding a new hydraulic chain tensioner said to run quieter and more reliably than the previous component. The 4.4-gallon fuel tank was also modified to provide space for the upgrades.

MV’s Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System electronics platform returns on the Dragster RR, offering ride-by-wire throttle control. MV Agusta says the fuel mapping options have been refined for performance and fuel economy. The Dragster RR also comes with an eight-level traction control system.

MV Agusta also upgrade its quickshifter EAS system for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, aided by a new slipper clutch.

102114-2015-mv-agusta-dragster-800-rr-_TI86713The RR’s chassis is the similar to the regular Dragster with a steel tube trellis frame and integrated aluminum pivot plates for the rear swingarm. The RR’s fully-adjustable 43mm Marzocchi upside-down fork is lighter with Diamond Like Carbon-treated Aluminum and an anodized red color to differentiate from the regular Dragster. The single-sided swingarm is connected to a Sachs progressive single shock with adjustable rebound and compression damping and spring preload. Both the front and rear suspension offer 4.92 inches of travel, just like on the regular Dragster 800.

And also like the regular Dragster, the RR comes with four-piston radial-mount brakes gripping twin 320mm front discs and a two-piston caliper with a 220mm disc at the rear courtesy of Brembo. A Bosch 9 Plus anti-lock braking system with rear wheel lift-up mitigation comes as standard equipment.

Other highlights include a 31.9-inch seat height, digital display and a claimed dry weight of 370.4 pounds (2.2 pounds heavier than the non-RR version.)

The 2015 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR comes in two color options: Pearl Shock Red with Pearl Ice White or Pearl Shock Red with Carbon Metallic Black. U.S. pricing and availability remains to be announced but in Europe, the Dragster 800 RR is priced at €16,290 (US$20,732) compared to €13,490 (US$17,171) for the regular Dragster 800.
