At the second annual Motorcycle Film Festival held in New York City on Sept 24-27th, PENTON: The John Penton Story won the coveted Best Feature Documentary award. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, really, as MO contributor, Todd Raferty, reviewed the film himself and gave it high praise.

In it’s first official film festival appearance, PENTON: The John Penton Story won the award against other wonderful films which included the new On AnySunday, The Next Chapter, which the producers of the Penton film are also Executive Producers on.

The award will help promote the film even further to encourage the public and motorcycle dealers, clubs, etc. to see and have screenings of the film through the unique “Theatrical On Demand” system with Gathr Films. Anyone can host a screening of the film simply by signing up and then promoting it to all their friends and contacts through social media, email, and local promotion. Hosting a screening costs nothing.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
