More than 500 rare Harley-Davidson motorcycles and collector’s items will be hitting the auction block on June 28. The items belong to Ron Shreffler, former owner of a Harley-Davidson dealership in Manteno, Ill. The retired Shreffler once had plans to open a Harley-Davidson museum but has now decided to auction off his collection gathered from 48 years in the industry. The auction, operated by Lorenz Auction, will be held on-site in Manteno as well as online at www.proxibid.com/lorenz.

Highlights of the auction include a rare 1997 Harley-Davidson MT500 military bike (serial #1 of 450 produced), a 1993 90th anniversary edition FXDWG Wide Glide with its original crate and the fully-restored 1987 FXLR Daytona Low-Rider that Willie G. Davidson rode to Daytona for a Muscular Dystrophy Association ride.

“This is one of the largest and most comprehensive Harley-Davidson collections to ever be offered to the public,” says Larry Lorenz, auctioneer and owner of Lorenz Auction. “This auction includes low and number one serial numbers and first editions that will appeal to any serious bike collector or enthusiast.”
