KTM announced a recall on 2014 690 Enduro R and SMC R models because the screws mounting the rear brake lever may not have received the correct torque. Of the two affected models, only the 690 Enduro R is offered in the U.S. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to post a recall yet, though we expect that to occur soon.

According to KTM, the tools used to attach the brake lever to the footrest mounting were not properly adjusted, resulting in screws that may not have been tightened with the proper amount of torque. KTM discovered the problem during routine testing in the production process.

KTM dealers will inspect recalled units and check that their brake levers are properly fastened. We will have more information when a recall is posted through NHTSA.
