While many people associate Valentino Rossi with Fiat, that relationship is long over, like years since they consciously uncoupled. So, should something be read into the announcement of the limited-edition Opel Adam VR46? A future sponsorship agreement? Who knows.

What we do know is that this slick-looking Opel Adam VR46 was recently announced in Italy. Based on the Adam SLAM, the VR46 offers four different color options and three roof choices, giving customers a total of 12 variations on the Adam. In addition, there’s the slick VR46 badge on the front quarter panels and B-pillars plus the neon yellow highlights on the wheels.

This isn’t Rossi’s first venture with Opel. Last December, he teamed with Opel on an Adam customized by Aldo Drudi, who Rossi fans know is responsible for all the cool helmet designs he’s worn over the years. The Drudi/Rossi Adam was auctioned on eBay to raise money for the non-profit Meyer Children’s Hospital Foundation. The winning bid was almost $42,000!

Why is this man smiling? Because he got paid a truckload of money to have his name attached to this car?

The bad news about the Opel Adam VR46 is that it is available in Italy only. To help you deal with the disappointment, here’s a video of Rossi saying something in Italian about the car.

While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.
