Wakefield MotoGP Art Tour Needs Your Help

A photograph can capture a moment, but a painting can capture an emotion. Alex Wakefield is a motorsport fine artist in Joliet, Illinois, whose body of work encapsulates the emotions of racing. While he’s a fan of both two-wheel and four-wheel motorsports, recently he was asked by the Dainese D-Store Chicago to commission some artwork to display at the store.

The response to his work was so well received he was invited by Dainese to show his work in a touring exhibition at the other two North American D-Stores in California (Orange County and San Francisco) and possibly an overseas exhibition at the Barcelona D-Store location. However, travel costs will not be covered. This is where Wakefield could use your help.

He has started a Kickstarter campaign, to not only raise funds required for travel, but also to cover the cost of materials required to produce 15 original pieces. Wakefield estimates he will need $5000 to do this. Assuming his Kickstarter campaign is successful, Wakefield will be presenting his artwork at each D-Store location coinciding with that weekend’s televised MotoGP race. The exhibit dates are as follows:

D-Store Orange County – August 16-18 Indianapolis MotoGP
D-Store San Francisco – August 23-25 Czech MotoGP
D-Store Barcelona – November 8-10 Valencia MotoGP

Watch the video below to learn about Wakefield’s dream and desire to bring his artwork to you, the MotoGP enthusiast. The Kickstarter link above will have more information, including how to donate to his cause.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.
