Bike Week Is Here!

It’s been a long, cold winter in most of the US, but it’s always sunny in Florida. And that’s why every year around this time tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts descend on Daytona Beach for Bike Week! Motorcycle.com will have our boots – and wheels – on the ground. Will you?

In addition to the sun and fun, there are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, and Daytona International Speedway is the epicenter. AMA races include: Supercross on March 9; Flat Track on the 14th and 15th; and the Daytona 200 on Saturday the 16th. In addition to the races, demo rides from ALL the major manufacturers will take place in the speedway parking lot all week long. Parts, accessories and apparel galore will be on display and for sale in the Motorcycle Marketplace. The Midway (outside Turn 4) is home to K&G Cycles Thunder Alley, where in addition to hot food and cold drinks you’ll enjoy the Hooters Bikini Contest and the Hot Leathers Fashion Show.

From Friday March 8 to Saturday March 16 Bike Week events are happening all over the Daytona area. Take part in the Treasure Hunt; visit Destination Daytona; the vendors and the Harley-Davidson dealership at Riverfront Park on Beach Street; the cruising, live music, and hot action on Main Street; the infamous Cole Slaw Wrestling at the Cabbage Patch Bar in Samsula; the Broken Spoke in Ormond Beach; and too many more kickass events to even think about listing them all here.

On Saturday March 9th at noon, Star will debut its brand new motorcycle to the public at the Yamaha Marketplace. Can’t wait to see it! Another of my personal Bike Week highlights will take place at Dirty Harry’s Pub on Main Street that same night, when Mike Wolfe, host of HISTORY Channel’s American Pickers, will help unveil the long-awaited, completely new Indian Motorcycle engine by Polaris. Should be a gas.

And on Saturday, March 16, the lunatics finally take over the asylum. Immediately after the Daytona 200, the Indian Motorcycle Spring Dash at Daytona allows riders to take their own bike for two laps around Daytona International Speedway’s 3.56-mile road course. Tickets are $30 per bike and include a commemorative patch.

As mentioned, I’ll be there to document the event for Motorcycle.com – so keep your eyes peeled here for all the action – and something special from Harley-Davidson….

Daytona Bike Week is always a blast, with something for everyone. What events are you guys looking forward to?
