BMW Motorrad has announced U.S. pricing for the new 2013 R1200GS, with the German company’s updated flagship adventure tourer starting at $15,800. Recently reviewed by our EiC Kevin Duke, the 2013 BMW R1200GS is nearly completely re-designed, with the most notable new feature being a new 1170cc boxer engine with small radiators providing what BMW calls “Precision Cooling“.

Available at American dealerships in March, the 2013 BMW R1200GS will be available in several sometimes confusing packages. The base GS is priced at $15,800 and comes with disengageable ABS, aluminum engine guard, center stand, power accessory socket, white turn signal lenses, LED rear light, on-board computer, height-adjustable seat, longitudinally-adjustable passenger seat, adjustable windshield and removable pillion foot rests.

A step up from the base package is the somewhat misleadingly named Standard Package, priced at $16,600. The Standard Package adds heated grips, cruise control and saddle bag mounts.

For an extra $1,450, BMW offers the add-on Touring Package which includes the new Dynamic ESA suspension, an improved on-board computer, GPS preparation, chrome exhaust, hand guards, heated grips and saddlebag mounts. Also available as an add-on is the Active Package which adds multiple ride modes, traction control and cruise control for $740. Customers who want both the Touring and Active Packages can get what BMW calls the Premium Package, though at a price of $17,990 it’ll cost the same as a base model with both add-ons included.

If the Premium Package isn’t enough, BMW is offering the Premium Plus Package for $18,870. It includes the Comfort Package of heated grips, tire pressure monitor, hand guards and saddle bag mounts (available separately for $620), the Dynamic Package (also available for $2,100)which consists of traction control, ride modes, dynamic ESA, LED headlight, the higher-end on-board computer and GPS preparation. The Premium Plus Package also adds Cruise Control which is otherwise priced separately at $350.

For 2013, the BMW R1200GS will be offered in Fire Blue, Racing Red, Thunder Gray Metallic and Alpine White.
