Barni Racing‘s Lorenzo Savadori led for nine of 11 laps on his way to earning the first every Superstock 1000 Cup victory for the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale.

Racing in mixed weather conditions at Italy’s Monza circuit, Savadori took the lead on Lap 3 from his teammate Eddi La Marra.

Savadori would hold that lead until the end, crossing the finish 1.651 seconds ahead of BWG Kawasaki‘s Christoffer Bergman and 1.884 seconds ahead of La Marra.

The win also moved Savadori into first overall in the championship standings with 53 points. BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet’s Sylvain Barrier led the championship race going into Monza with 50 points but the S1000RR rider struggled in the race, crashing out on Lap 9.

La Marra sits just two points behind Barrier for third in the championship, putting a pair of Panigales into the title mix. As for the premier World Superbike class, we’ll have to wait until 2013 before we see the debut of the 1199.
