Ducati's Number 1 Market? The United States of America

The U.S.A. has become Ducati’s largest market, says Gabriele Del Torchio, Ducati Motor Holding president.

“We sell more bikes here in the United States now than we do in our domestic market. Only 20 percent of our bikes are sold in Italy, and 80 percent are exported,” Del Torchio said at a Ducati North America dealer meeting in Miami Beach.

Del Torchio said Ducati has more than doubled its worldwide market share over the past four years, rising to 10.6% from 4.8%.

Perhaps no other model reflects the importance of the American market to Ducati than the Diavel. The cruiser-style motorcycle with its wide 240mm tire is a departure from the rest of Ducati’s lineup, but it does appeal to American consumers where cruisers are popular.
