Elderly Woman Mistakes Scooter for Curb
Oblivious motorist commits hit and run
Surely many of us can admit that we have accidentally opened a door too quickly or nudged another vehicle in a parking lot, but Police said that Clark was vaulted off the scooter and onto the windshield of her car before landing on the pavement. As he came to his senses, Clark was amazed and infuriated that she was nowhere to be seen. Regardless of her age, one would think this is something she would have noticed if she were fit to be driving an automobile.
While Davidson was having her hair done, Clark was being transported to hospital to receive attention for the injuries he received. Davidson was later charged with leaving the scene of a crash and booked at the Palm Beach County Jail, where she quickly posted the $3,000 bail.
This goes well beyond the “loud pipes save lives” debate since this woman was quite obviously clueless and would likely have an issue noticing a bomb go off. This is simply a reminder to those of us who ride that the motorists who we share the roadway with every day should be treated as though they are all out to kill us. If you carry this perception, as unfortunate as it is, you will rarely be surprised by the stupidity you witness. Ride safe.
