UPDATE (May 19): Official 2010 Honda Fury Pricing

UPDATE (Feb 27): The Honda Fury Review is finally here!!!

Some may baulk at Honda’s description of the Fury as “radical.” Sure it’s not mind-blowing in the way a $60K custom can be, but it’s worth noting that not even Harley-Davidson has produced a bike with a rake angle so stretched or a wheelbase as long. So let’s admit that, for the normally staid Honda, the Fury is radical.
And to get a radical chopper with Honda levels of quality for just $13K seems like quite a bargain.

UPDATE (Jan 16th): Above is the video of the Honda Fury from the official launch, click here for the full article!

U.S. Army Spc. Michael Alcorn received a hero’s welcome from friends and family members last night at his home in Medford, PA. I love pop culture… maybe even a little too much. With such an addiction to collecting – regardless the industry – I read a lot of magazines. I simply don’t know when to say no. And yes, I still buy magazines despite being an internet addict and content creator. Just how many magazines constitutes “a lot” you may ask? I’ll just say that I employ the services of self-storage units to house my collection.

While walking around the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica tonight I tried to simply cruise past the open air magazine stand and not shop as I usually do. I didn’t have the carrying capacity on the motorcycle tonight to pick up my usual Friday night stack. My eyes however had to look from afar even though my body was keeping itself out of arms reach – they’re a weak team. I was surprised to see on the cover of New York City’s Surface Magazine, “Style and Design for Inspired Living”. Beneath a Louis Vuitton-encrusted Janine Henkes (the model) was Tiger Bracy’s visionary creation called the Victory Vision 800. Awesome! It’s rare to see two of my favorite worlds come together in a personally appealing way – fashion and motorcycles. I bought the magazine and added it to my collection of course.

Congrats to Tiger for designing and building such an oddity, and thanks to Robert and Manny Pandya for bringing Victory Motorcycles to the general public’s eye on the cover of Surface Magazine’s Annual Avant Guardian Issue.

Back to the Future

Limited run revives Crocker Motorcycles

Crocker Motorcycles. Who? Exactly. Most people have never heard of these American pre-war two-wheeled hot rods, of which less than 100 were ever built. An appearance in a 1998 motorcycle exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York brought these bikes back from obscurity, aside from the few collectors who own the few left in existence. Prices for those rare bikes are said to range from $85,000 to $100,000 each.

Harley Davidson Dealer Selling Stock

Five shares of HD stock with every purchase

For a limited time, a Harley-Davidson dealer in St. Louis will be shelling out five shares of HD stock with every motorcycle purchase or will give you stock if you bring in a friend to purchase a bike.

Harley has been going through some difficult times this year, posting losses for the first nine months of 2008. Total Harley-Davidson brand motorcycle shipments decreased 16,948 units or nine percent to 226,898 bikes.

The stock is currently trading at $15.67 per share but the 52-week high is $50.04. Given the current economic climate, most companies out there are hurting but investing in the right companies today could payoff big later. If you intend on going long, more than likely you can count on getting a good return on investment, not to mention the stock too!

“Revheads” Save Us from Ourselves

Going Green doesn’t have to mean going slow

With long-standing names in the retail world evaporation like the morning dew, further news of major US automakers begging for billions is just plain depressing.

This got me pondering how major Japanese and European automakers managed to avoid the same fate. My supposition? Import manufacturers adapted and looked toward the future before they were forced to do so! US automakers, on the other hand, have painted themselves into a corner. The Big Three are now playing catch-up with things like electric cars and “alternative fuel” vehicles. With gas prices the way they are, green machines seem to be all the rage – Yuck!

Ariel Chopper on eBay

Wooden car powered by motorcycle engine

Normally when I think of a custom chopper, I envision something like Wyatt’s Captain America bike or even retro re-creations like the Harley Davidson Cross Bones. After all the act of chopping normally referred to forks and frames, not chopping wood. A unique ride recently added to eBay breaks from this tradition with a wooden hot rod built around the engine and transmission from a 1952 Ariel Square 4 motorcycle.
